Target text: Discursive essay.

Situation: Yor English class had read about performance-enhancing drugs and their connection with the Olympic games. Your teacher has now asked you to write an essay giving your opinion on the following statement:

Society should accept and promote that athletes take drugs in order to compete in high-level competitions such as Olympic.

In the past, the Olympic games was one of the most important and competitive games in which players could beats sport records. Nowadays, the use of drugs (dopping) is being a frequent mechanism used between athletes. That is why using these kinds of help is not healthy and real for the competition.

On one hand, drugs are commonly used by players. During many years, drugs have helped the performance in players. Likewise, beating records started becoming easy to get it for players. Bolt, for example, confessed the use of drugs during his competitions in the Olympic.

On the other hand, drugs have side effects. Using drugs has many risks for people. This is due to people do not have the same celular reaction to drugs. Unfortunately, these side effects seem no to matter in both players and coaches. For instance, there are many unexpected deaths due to the use of dopping during competitions, like the football player case in Australia in 2009.

To my mind, the use of drugs has many side effects that might produce untimely deaths. Besides, if a player uses dopping in competitions, the result will not be real and alterated.
